Financial
education should be a mandatory component of the school program. To
what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Although
students are able to obtain numerous of benefits from learning
financial management at school, it might bring several negative effects.
This essay will assert that it is advisable to teach finance in school as an optional component or at home rather than a compulsory subject.
There
are significant advantages of financial education when people are at an
early stage of life. Firstly, children can learn and understand the
concept of money that leads to better financial management with
well-planned financial decisions and appropriated money solutions. In
addition, financial education helps children understand the important
value of money and realise their parents’ difficulties to earn it. As a
result, it reminds and educates them to spend money reasonably and plan
future expenditure well in advance. This subject can be taught in a
school program to provide a strong background and deep knowledge for the
youth in terms of preparing for their future. Furthermore, parents
always being good role models for their children ordinarily, thus
children may also learn managing finance at home rather than a required
subject at school. Likewise, many students who have difficulties in
study such complex subjects can study in this way.
On
the other hand, being taught about money too early might affect
children negatively. Initially, the subjects of finance are more
complicated and challenging for young students to learn than simple
subjects such as mathematics and history because most finance subjects
are practical and experience is needed. Moreover, people study finance
at an early stage of life that could result in measuring everything from
a profit making perspective. They may talk about money at all the times
even at home or in public areas. Consequently, children easily are
obsessed with money that negatively influence their daily lives.
In
conclusion, the advantages of studying finance early outweigh the
disadvantages in many ways. The point of view in this essay is that
finance can be taught at home or be an option subject rather than a
compulsory one at school.
